Purpose:
This senior human resources position is responsible for supporting strategic direction through the provision of a continuum of human resources strategies, support and services. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources for North America, this position develops, manages and leads programs designed to attract, engage and retain a high performing workforce. This position acts as an advisor and leader to supervisors, managers and employees and partners with them to facilitate effective Human Resources Management throughout the organization.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Reporting
Leads, develops and implements the Human Resources Strategy in accordance with the global HR operational planning framework and strategic priorities.
Participates as an active member of the senior leadership team for Calgary.
Monitors results of the Human Resources programs for employees and employee development and career enhancements in order to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
Manages the Human Resources policy framework as it applies to employees and the organization providing ongoing quality improvement to policies and procedures.
Oversees the maintenance and application of the HR database system.
Analyses statistical data and prepares HR reports as required.
Effectively manages compensation and benefits to establish competitive programs to ensure compliance with market data and legal compliance.
Stays abreast of changing employment legislation and current industry trends, and advises management accordingly.
Workforce Development
Develops and implements creative recruitment strategies according to the organizational requirements.
Ensures standardized and equitable recruitment and hiring processes for all employees.
Assists and advises managers through the recruitment process.
Coordinates employee on-boarding and orientation.
Coordinates the annual Performance Appraisal review for all employee positions and maintains up to date Job/Role Descriptions.
Coaches supervisors/managers on employee retention strategies.
Coaches supervisors/managers on professional development, succession planning and monitors implementation and impact.
Workplace Relations
Identifies strategies and practices to managers and supervisors designed to maintain positive workplace relations and a high level of employee morale and motivation.
Facilitates resolution to employee concerns in accordance with policy and procedures.
Assists managers and supervisors on employee recognition strategies and coordinates recognition events.
Conducts exit interviews with employees who leave and summarizes the results
Employee Wellness
Supervises the Health & Safety program within the context of a broader risk management in conjunction with QHSE.
Works in conjunction with WCB to facilitate an early and safe return to work program.
Promotes initiatives and resources to promote a healthy work/life balance for all employees.
Performance Management
Provides guidance and direction concerning performance management and development strategies and processes for employees/ supervisors and managers. This includes monitoring and advising supervisors and managers in the performance management and progressive disciplinary systems of the organization, as required.
Keeps the senior team and the VP of Human Resources informed of significant organizational issues that may be barriers to the achievement of the organizational goals.

Education and Experience:
Undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management or Business
7 ? 10 year?s experience in a senior HR role
A strong knowledge and experience in labour relations, employment standards and labour trends.
Demonstrated ability to develop and lead Human Resources initiatives.
Proven ability to build strong cohesive working relationships, both internal and external to the organization.
CHRP designation

Physical Requirements:
Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks and duties at outlined above.
Work Environment:
Normal office environment with the absence of disagreeable conditions.
Takes direction and work independently to complete assignment.
Solve problems associated with work assignments.
Work closely with personnel in all departments to accomplish division goals.

Report all injuries, incidents or workplace illnesses to the immediate supervisor as soon as possible and co ? operate with any investigation made to determine cause and future preventative measures
Co ? operate with the employer in the implementation of an early and safe return to work program
