We are currently looking for Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanics (Heavy Equipment Technicians) for a leading mining company based in South Eastern BC. Shifts: 4 on and 4 off, 2 days and 2 nights. Overtime payment varies at each site but generally it is time and a half for the first 2 hours, then double time for all subsequent hours. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Positions Available: Multiple Positions Available Location: Sparwood, and Elkford, BC Education: Inter-provincial or Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic (Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) Certificate. Interprovincial or Red Seal Truck and Transport candidates with previous mining experience will be considered. Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile mining equipment including shovels, graders, trucks, loaders and other heavy equipment. Duties include the ability to diagnose equipment problems, disassemble and reassemble components such as engine, transmission, cooling system, fuel and exhaust systems, clutch and differential by using all appropriate tools and following OEM and company procedures. Additional Skills: Instruct apprentices, Order parts, Keep maintenance reports and documentation Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract), pre employment medical screening Own Tools/Equipment: Required to have own Tools, Steel-toed safety boots and Air tools company offers reimbursement for tools approved by supervisor. Essential Skills: Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, safety conscious.
